Medical Vinyl Replacement

Cracked or peeling vinyl is the most common reason healthcare furniture looks worn out, and a torn surface is hard to clean properly. Most of the time the frame and much of the foam are fine. UpholsteryLink handles medical vinyl replacement on seating, recliners and tables: the damaged vinyl comes off and new healthcare vinyl goes on.

When vinyl needs replacing

  • Cracking and splitting

Fine cracks that open into splits, usually at seat fronts, arm caps and table edges.

  • Peeling or flaking

The top layer lifting away from the backing, often after years of strong cleaners.

  • Tears and punctures

Cuts or holes that expose the foam underneath.

  • Stiff or sticky surfaces

Vinyl that has hardened or turned tacky and no longer cleans well.

Furniture this applies to

Seating

  • Waiting-room chairs
  • Treatment chairs
  • Infusion and dialysis recliners
  • Stools and benches

Tables

  • Exam tables
  • Treatment and procedure tables
  • Therapy tables

Other

  • Headboards and wall pads in patient areas
  • Specialty medical furniture, after review

Choosing the replacement vinyl

  • Matched to your cleaning

Tell us which disinfectants your facility uses; the replacement vinyl is chosen to suit them.

  • Matched to the room

Color matched to the furniture around it, or a new color for a whole area.

  • Your specifications

If your facility has material requirements, include them. UpholsteryLink confirms materials against them in the quote but does not certify compliance.

Vinyl replacement questions

Is it cheaper than new furniture?
Often, when frames are sound — but every quote follows a review of your photos, and the team will say if replacement furniture would make more sense.
Can you replace just the damaged part?
Sometimes a single panel can be replaced; often the whole surface is redone so the color and wear match. Photos show which applies.
Does the foam get replaced too?
Only if it needs it. Flattened or wet foam is replaced; sound foam stays.
